In this episode I address an attitude that has become more and more prevalent in the church and especially from the pulpit. Too often I hear ministers encouraging the hearer to "Be A Reflection" of this or that or the other. I will challenge this concept as we take a closer look at the characteristics and facts about reflections and then do the same with the Biblical concept or construct ot each of us being a Light instead of a Reflection!

The Furnace of Affliction
It is so easy to get confused when we find ourselves in the midst of the furnace of affliction unexpectedly! We think we are doing well when suddenly, out of no where, we are thrust into red hot fire of The Refiner! The automatic question is WHY? The proper question is WHAT!? After 400 years of slavery in Egypt, Israel had a lot of Why questions but didn't grasp the What questions. The What questions seek the Purpose of the Affliction, the battle, rather than just Whyning. Israel entered Egypt with a feeble mom and dad, 11 sons and their families. They left Egypt 400 years later, stronger in body and in numbers. Some 2 Million Israelites walked on dry ground across the Red Sea. They were in the furnace of affliction those 400 years because God was building up for himself a people capable of entering and possessing the Promised Land! If you find yourself in the Furnace of Affliction, begin immediately to ask the what questions to figure out God's purpose in your time of testing!
